Because of neck surgery, it was too painful for me to lean back in the shampoo bowl. Now that my salon has HeadsUp® I’m able to enjoy multiple hair treatments in comfort. What a great product!”

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I shampoo?
Shampoo as you normally would. Lift the head slightly to access the occipital area at the back of the head.
How do I rinse?
A few tips on rinsing:
Is it difficult to get to the back of the head?
No, simply raise the head slightly off the headpan.
How do I keep from getting the client wet?
HeadsUp® has many design features that maximize water drainage into the bowl. To keep the client’s back (and the floor) dry, wrap the towel loosely around the client’s shoulders, not around the neck. If the towel is around the neck, it will wick water onto the back.
What if the client gets wet?
Lower HeadsUp® slightly. Make sure that you are pointing the nozzle toward the side of the neck, not the chair, as you turn the head from side to side.
What if a client has long hair?
Drape long hair over the back of the headpan. This also helps keep the hair out of the drain.
What if a client’s neck hurts?
First, make sure that HeadsUp® is installed properly. If so, make adjustments. Have him/her scoot backward or forward in the chair, raise of lower the chair, move the chair, or raise or lower HeadsUp®. Remember, never use HeadsUp® if a client is uncomfortable and never adjust HeadsUp® while anyone’s head is lying on it.
What if HeadsUp® catches on the client’s collar?
Move the chair forward so that when you raise the back of the chair it does not touch or lift up the neck support.
How do I rinse color?
You can rinse most of the head by turning it from side to side. To access the occipital region, raise the head slightly.
How do I rinse a perm?
Before rinsing, lower HeadsUp® to allow for the height of the rollers/rods. Keeping in mind that the hair is in a weakened state, lift the head and turn it gently to one side, rinsing the side and back section of rods. Repeat with the other side of the head. When you are finished, remember to raise HeadsUp® back to the correct position.
How do I rinse relaxers?
Keeping in mind that the hair is in a weakened state, gently turn the head from side to side, rinsing each side. To get to the back of the head, gently raise and turn it, resting it on the headpan, and rinse.
How do I adjust HeadsUp® if it gets too low in the bowl?
Remove the strap from the adjuster. Pull the strap as needed to reach the desired height. Remove all of the slack from the strap, both under and above the shelf at the back of the headpan. Then feed the end of the strap back through the bars of the adjuster. Do not make adjustments while anyone’s head is on the headpan.
How do I remove HeadsUp®?
HeadsUp® fits securely in the shampoo bowl, but it is easy to remove. Move the outer edges of the brackets away from the sides of the bowl, lift them, raise the headpan, and remove the unit from the bowl.
When I remove HeadsUp® from the shampoo bowl, is it difficult to put back in?
Often you can reattach HeadsUp® without having to readjust it. Always check it to make sure it is secure and in the correct position in the bowl before use.
Carefully read the Instruction Booklet before using HeadsUp®. Heed all cautions and safeguards.
